Beach House Hallway- the second

Ok, here I am journaling our home improvements for all you readers out there. There is a lot of work to be done here and I am usually better doing the work rather than writing about it but let's see how this goes. I have to apologize for the bad quality pictures but you'll get the idea.

The past 2 weekends I've been working on the second half of the Beach House Hallway. It's been bugging me for quite some time now but we are finally getting there. The whole hallway was a yellowish wallpaper. The wallpaper does not bother me but the color did. We removed wallpaper in the back bedroom once and I have no desire to do it again so we painted over it again.

First step was priming with an oil based primer to make sure that the wallpaper stays on the wall. We did this successfully in the Master Bedroom and I decided to keep going with this method. Only downside is the fumes in oil based paint/ primer and I highly recommend a mask and working with all the windows/ doors open. Yep, not so much fun for your lungs but the mask really helps me.

So first I primed (yes I am the designated painter/ decorator and dreamer upper of new projects, while Brian is the builder/ fixer/ installer/electrician and overall handy man.

So I primed first and then painted the walls BM Moonshine to match the rest of the hallway. The trim was sanded and painted with Olympic Semi- Gloss White Paint (off the shelf). Next step will be sanding, priming and painting the doors.

Next weekend we will install the new light, new light switches and outlets....

Eventually we (I) are hoping that we will install wooden floors through the hallway and living rooms (it is a beach house after all) along with recess lighting. I am a firm believer that you always need more light (and they are just so pretty).

I can't wait to start decorating and painting the entry dresser..... Oh and how I love the white trim.
